What We Believe

Soulliberty.com follows in the footsteps of the Independent Fundamental Baptists, Anabaptists, Lollards, Waldensians, Bretheren, and any other name that unadulterated, bible-believing Christians have been known by from Acts 11:26 until the present day. The following outlines our basic doctrinal positions.

  1. Salvation is by grace through repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10) and belief (Romans 10:13) (both of which are necessary parts of faith) in the blood atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:28). We reject the Calvinist doctrine that this atonement is limited to only a pre-chosen few; God offers this gift to the whole world (John 3:16). We similarly reject the Universalist doctrine that everyone is saved, regardless of their willingness to accept God’s gift (John 3:18).

  2. God is triune, existing in three persons which are united as one Godhead (Colossians 2:9). In its uncorrupted, unrevised English form, 1 John 5:7 lays this out very clearly: “For there are three that bear record in Heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one .” The Word is synonymous with the Son, Jesus Christ, who was fully God and fully man, born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), and the only human to ever live a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15).

  3. Heaven (Genesis 28:12) and Hell (Matthew 23:33) both exist in a literal, biblical sense. Many nominal Christians today deny that Hell contains actual fire and real torment (Mark 9:43-48). To be consistent, this would also mean that Heaven isn’t quite as real as we’d hope, either. Logically, you have to take the Bible as a whole. Either the Bible presents God’s truth about Heaven and Hell or the Bible is a myth comprised of the vain babbling of men. We cannot cherry-pick the Bible doctrines we like and forget about the ones we dislike (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

  4. The Devil is real (Matthew 4:1). He goes by other names: Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12), Satan (Job 1:7) and many descriptions: serpent (Genesis 3:1), dragon (Revelation 12:9), angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). He prowls around like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8) looking for spiritual victims, so we must always remain vigilant against him and the fallen angels (Matthew 25:41) that follow him.

  5. The local church is the visible church of God on this planet (Matthew 16:18). It exists “wherever 2 or 3 are gathered together in [Jesus’] name” (Matthew 18:20). The local church entails the physical assembly of born again believers (Hebrews 10:25). We adhere to the doctrine of separation (2 Corinthians 6:16-17, Romans 1:1), meaning believers are not to assemble with nonbelievers for the purpose of worship. We are to take the Gospel out into the world, not bring the world into the church. The Body of Christ entails all believers (1 Corinthians 12:13, Colossians 1:24, Ephesians 2:19) across all eras that will be presented together in Heaven as the bride to the groom (Ephesians 5:27, Ephesians 5:32).

  6. The Bible is perfect (inerrant, infallible) in every way (2 Timothy 3:16). The original autographs were inspired by God, who also preserved every word (Psalm 12:6-7), jot (Matthew 5:18), and tittle (Luke 16:17) in their perfect form up to this day. The divinely preserved English form of the Bible is the Authorized Version of 1611 (The King James Version), making it the sharpest “sword” (Ephesians 6:17) available to Christians today. It follows the Antiochan manuscripts (Acts 11:26), the Majority Text, and Textus Receptus. All other Bible versions not based on these manuscripts are corrupted (2 Peter 3:16, Revelation 22:19).

  7. We are commanded to win souls for Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:16-20). Those that have been delivered from God’s judgment by his saving grace ought to be excited (2 Corinthians 7:11) to lead others to the same deliverance. It should be our very reason for getting out of bed in the morning. Every day, we should put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-20) and sharpen our skills with the sword of the Lord (Ephesians 6:17). We are the husbandry of God (1 Corinthians 3:9) planting and watering while God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:7). We are to sow the seed and reap the fields (John 4:36-37, Luke 10:2) for souls. Someday, we will stand before God and our earthly works will be burned away (1 Corinthians 3:13). Only our reward for spiritual work will remain (1 Corinthians 3:14-15).

  8. Genesis is real history, as confirmed by nothing less than Jesus Christ’s own words. Earth and the heavens (universe) were created in six days (Genesis 1, Exodus 20:11), the earth is 6,000 years old (Genesis 5:3-32, Genesis 11:10-27, Matthew 1:1-16), Adam and Eve are our first ancestors (Genesis 2), Noah’s flood was global (Genesis 7-8), and Abraham (Genesis 11) and Moses (Exodus 2) both existed. This foundational book of the Bible sets the tone for the proper interpretation of the remaining 65 books.

  9. The rapture is a real, future event in which all believers will be “caught up” to be with Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:17). After this, God will set up his kingdom here on Earth for 1,000 years while Satan is bound (Revelation 20:2-4). Then, he will create a new Heaven and Earth, restored to its original perfection (Revelation 21:1).

  10. There is no unimportant or negotiable doctrine in the Bible. 100% of the Bible is important (2 Timothy 3:16). If something seems unimportant – it’s probably because you don’t fully understand it yet (2 Timothy 2:7). While we cannot be perfect or all-knowing, we still strive to know the truth (John 8:32), for three main reasons. First, we are to study to show ourselves approved before God, rightly dividing scripture (2 Timothy 2:15). Second, we must have an answer for any man that asks why we believe (1 Peter 3:15). Third we are to preach the word, in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2).

Liberating Your Soul

1. God supernaturally created the universe and life because of his great love for us. Everything, including your daily life, is governed by his natural laws.

2. Understand that our present world is cursed because we all sin (reject God) and the only just and righteous consequence of this is death, both physically on Earth and eternally in Hell. (If you believe you are a "good" person, take this test.)

3. God offers us liberation from this sentence! He came in the flesh to take our punishment upon himself, paying the price with his blood shed on the cross, and then conquered death by coming back to life and ascending to Heaven.

4. The way to accept this free gift is to repent of your sin and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to save you by his grace alone through faith alone in Jesus alone.

5. Thank him daily for this ultimate gift through worship and obedience. You can learn how by reading the Bible and finding a good church.
